Matosantos Responds to TRS: 'I'm Puerto Rican and I'm Gay'
After it was publicly known that Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz had questioned the sexual orientation of Ana Matosantos, member of the Fiscal Control Board (FCB), the official from the FCB replied to the Senate president, stating that her personal life should not be questioned and that he should instead focus on his job.
'I am who I am, and I'm proud of it. I understand everyone is entitled to inquire into my work. But who I am, who I love, who I share my life with—that is out of the question,' Matosantos stated in an interview with WKAQ, after saying she is 'Puerto Rican and gay', in response to Rivera Schatz's allegations.
Later on, Matosantos said she has been in a relationship with her 'partner, with whom I've had the honor of sharing my life for 16 years.'
However, regarding Rivera Schatz's claims against the $13-million cutback imposed on the Legislature by the FCB, Matosantossaid that these cuts are part of the measures currently being implemented to reduce public spending in the island, and that it was in no way spurred by personal motives.
'Everyone needs to contribute to the cause,' Matosantos admonished, in response to questions about the claims made by the Senate president. She also revealed that the Legislature cutbacks were implemented because 'the island does not have the necessary revenues to keep the budget at that level.'
