En anticipo a la vig\u00e9simaprimera edici\u00f3n del Puerto Rico Heineken JazzFest, en homenaje a Dizzy Gillespie y Chano Pozo, la distribuidora M\u00e9ndez <><><><><><>& Co. abri\u00f3 una convocatoria dotada de $2,000 para que artistas y dise\u00f1adores compitan por qui\u00e9n realizar\u00e1 el cartel conmemorativo del evento.\/p<\/p>\n

pLa fecha l\u00edmite para entregar los trabajos, que estar\u00e1n sujetos a dos rondas de evaluaci\u00f3n por parte de jurados an\u00f3nimos, es el 31 de marzo y las reglas est\u00e1n en prheinekenjazz.com. La convocatoria est\u00e1 abierta s\u00f3lo a artistas y dise\u00f1adores residentes en Puerto Rico.\/p<\/p>\n

pEste a\u00f1o el JazzFest se celebrar\u00e1 del 2 al 5 de junio en el anfiteatro Tito Puente. Luciano ‘Chano’ Pozo Gonz\u00e1lez fue un percusionista cubano que, a su llegada a Nueva York a fines de los a\u00f1os 40, lleg\u00f3 a integrase a la banda de trompetista Dizzy Gillespie, creando una estilo que muchos acreditan como el origen del ‘latin jazz’. De entre las composiciones de Pozo que todav\u00eda hoy son el arroz y habichuelas de todo jazzista destacan ‘Manteca’ y ‘Tin Tin Deo’.\/p<\/p>\n

p’Con este tributo revivimos lo que muchos llaman los quince meses que transformaron el mundo del jazz. En ese breve per\u00edodo se materializ\u00f3 la colaboraci\u00f3n entre Dizzy y Chano, uni\u00f3n que dej\u00f3 una profunda huella en la historia de la m\u00fasica. Este espacio de tiempo influenci\u00f3 profundamente el estilo afrocubano de la m\u00fasica de Gillespie. Dizzy y Chano elevaron juntos el estilo de jazz afrocubano,’ dijo Luis \u00c1lvarez, productor del Puerto Rico Heineken JazzFest y vicepresidente de la Divisi\u00f3n de Licores de M\u00e9ndez <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <><><><> <><><><> <> Compa\u00f1\u00eda.\/p<\/p>\n
