Conoci\u00f3 a Richard L. Carri\u00f3n durante un viaje que \u00e9l hizo a Espa\u00f1a para el Comit\u00e9 Ol\u00edmpico de Puerto Rico, estuvieron juntos por 26 a\u00f1os.
