During his first press conference on Wednesday from Escambr\u00f3n Beach, Oscar L\u00f3pez Rivera explained why he wore black the day he was officially released after more than three decades as a political prisoner in United States.<\/p>\n

Here is the list of reasons he gave to dress this way:<\/p>\n

1- ‘During the years that I was imprisoned I could never wear black to mourn my deceased loved ones.’<\/p>\n

2- Today ‘the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia is being celebrated, and I want to express my solidarity with that community.’<\/p>\n

3- ‘I want to express my solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement.’<\/p>

4- ‘For my message is, and it shall be, one of love and not of hatred or fear.’<\/p>\n

5- ‘To express my solidarity with the political prisoners in US prisons and Ana Bel\u00e9n Montes.’<\/p>\n

6- ‘To express my solidarity with the University of Puerto Rico students.’<\/p>\n
