Tras varios meses de búsqueda WAPA TV dio con quien será el nuevo director de noticias de Noticentro tras la salida de Alex Delgado.

Se trata del experimentado reportero Rafael Lenín López.

Así lo anunció el miercoles el presidente del canal de Guaynabo, Javier Maynulet.

¨En el proceso de búsqueda del nuevo director del departamento de noticias, pudimos evaluar varios candidatos internos y externos, tanto locales como fuera de Puerto Rico, todos con un alto calibre profesional. Luego de esa evaluación, seleccionamos a Rafael Lenín porque entendemos que reúne los requisitos necesarios, además de su conocimiento de primera mano del trabajo que realizan sus compañeros. Estamos confiados en que cumplirá con sus nuevas funciones con el profesionalismo y pasión que lo ha caracterizado a lo largo de su trayectoria¨, comentó Javier Maynulet en declaraciones escritas.

Su nombramiento será efectivo el lunes, 8 de abril.

Por su parte, el nuevo ejecutivo se expresó agradecido por su nombramiento.

'Despues de 19 años como reportero en Wapa Televisión y en otros medios, es un honor asumir esta gran responsabilidad. Mi único objetivo es guiar al mejor equipo de noticias de la televisión puertorriqueña al sitial que le corresponde, con un periodismo responsable, etico y de altura', explicó Lenín López.

López cursó su Bachillerato en Ciencias Políticas en la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Actualmente, se encuentra en la última etapa de sus estudios conducentes al grado de Maestría en Gobierno y Políticas Públicas de la Universidad Interamericana. Además de ser periodista de Noticentro, fue el moderador del programa electoral Decisión en Wapa Televisión y Wapa America. Ha sido moderador de programas radiales de análisis en varias emisoras, así como columnista de uno de los principales rotativos del país.

Presidió en más de un termino tanto el Overseas Press Club como la Asociación de Periodistas de Puerto Rico, tambien es presentador de Pegaos en la Mañana que transmite Radio Isla 1320.

El nuevo director de Noticias enfrentará varios retos inmediatos como la búsqueda de audiencias nuevas y más jóvenes, la competencia fuerte que representa la programación de noticias de Telemundo que ha reforzado sus ediciones y contenidos y el desarrollo de las estrategias y plataformas digitales de noticias del canal.
